68 of us came here for lunch on Father's Day and they did not disappoint. We were assigned the large room upstairs. I love eating family style. All their platters came with delicious looking food for 10 people. First of all their house Bread with their special olive oil, sun dried tomato concoction was delicious! Then we had the bruschetta and caprese tomatoes. I was in 7th heaven! The salad was just right to get me prepared for the pesto tortellini. I loved the sauce! Then came the rigatoni with meat sauce - so so yummy. Then we got salmon - which was cooked perfectly. The chicken Marsala in mushroom was Just a bit overlooked. I would have loved chicken thighs Over the Breast. Lastly, the cannoli was a perfect. Not too sweet. A perfect way to end the meal.

Last night's dinner was a good experience! Despite two large parties booked for just about the time we wandered in, we were seated immediately and service never lacked. I ordered the veal marsala and my wife had seafood pasta...started with the calamari and I had a nice glass of cabernet (a nice diversion from all the beer I have been drinking). I have been eating more veal since it is not something I would cook at home. The marsala had cream in the sauce which was noted on the menu. Note to self about ordering cream sauces which is not my favorite iteration, but I did enjoy it well enough. The vegetables were cooked more than expected. The seafood pasta was very very good. We shall return.

Food was excellent from start to finish. Loved the burrata, bruschetta and calamari. For the entree I had a seafood pasta dish in red gravy and it was deliecious. My only complaint was that the pasta was nice and steaming hot while the seafood was at room temperature. For dessert I has the Tiramisu and it was delicious!!!

Get an early reservation, we did and our experience was delightful. Not to mention we easily found parking on Burlingame Avenue. I had a delicious risotto with shrimp. My friends had the Pasta Carbonara and Veal pasta angletti. All were wonderful and the lemon dessert with mascarpone delish. I loved that I could get a half glass of wine!

Have been coming here since 2003. Food is excellent. Service is unparalleled. Came here on 02/14/24 Valentine's Day dinner. Everyone had reservations and was packed. Menu is simple. So you shouldn't spend too much time making your decision. I recommend all dishes. Don't forget the Tiramisu!! It's authentic Italian food. Wide Wine selection Very romantic atmosphere You can relax and enjoy a meal and conversation. You get taken care of here. Really get taken care of. Johnny was attending to my table. Outstanding service It was busy that evening but he was able to manage everything well. Don't expect to be given the bill. Just sit back and relax. Order some more drinks and enjoy the atmosphere. I definitely recommend this restaurant!! Attire is Business casual.

When the moon hits your eye like a big pizza pie, that's amore! Or should I be saying "that's sapore!" Because these song lyrics will be constantly in my head as I reminisce about a recent meal that a large party of fourteen people enjoyed over the holiday season at Sapore Italiano. Located along the bustling corridor of Burlingame Avenue in downtown Burlingame, Sapore Italiano has quietly become a local institution in this tony community thanks to their generous portions specializing in regional Italian cuisine, especially focusing on the Sicilian region of the country. There are a number of Italian restaurants throughout the city of Burlingame, and when I was looking to host a large party during the holiday season in the area, Sapore Italiano caught my eye mainly due to the affordability of their menu, and the fact that they were able to accommodate such large party with only few days notice. In fact, both making a reservation via the OpenTable website for fourteen people, and every member of our dining party finding an accessible parking spot nearby were super easy, mainly thanks to us going on a weeknight for dinner and there was a private lot right behind the restaurant. Upon arrival, our table was ready to be sat, and although they have a large amount of seating on their second floor, being sat on their first floor right by the stairwell was just as appealing as we had small children in our party that wanted to move about. I decided to bring my own bottle of Sangiovese red wine to share with the table, and it turned out to be a great decision, as normally they do charge twenty-five dollars for corkage, but on this day it was complimentary, as their staff was inundated with diners and really were running around all evening long. The dinner menu at Sapore Italiano is separated into categories including Antipasti, Insalate, Pizze, Paste, Secondi or Entrées, and their Speciali Della Sera or Specials of the Day. For the table, we decided to share two dishes each of their Calamari Fritti, which were deep fried Monterey fried calamari and jalapeños; their Arancini, which were homemade fried Italian Arborio rice balls stuffed with fresh mozzarella and peas, and served on a bed of meat sauce; and two of their Burrata Pizze, which were topped with fresh burrata cheese, parma prosciutto, arugula and mozzarella cheese. For our dinners, many of our diners seemed intrigued by what our server Oswaldo called their signature dish, which was Costoletta di Maíale, which was their grilled pork chop with herbs and a truffle mushroom sauce served with vegetables and roasted potatoes. I decided to order their Veal, which I learned from Oswaldo that it could be served in three ways, of which I ordered Piccata style, which was sautéed in a lemon caper white wine sauce served with vegetables and roasted potatoes. Others ordered their Tagliolini Gamberetti, which was their homemade flat noodle pasta with rock shrimps, scallops, sundried tomato in a light cream sauce; their Branzino Piccata, which was their fresh Mediterranean sea bass fillet sautéed in a lemon caper white wine sauce; their Tortellini al Pesto which was tortellini pasta stuffed with cheese in a creamy pesto sauce; and their Ravioli di Ricotta, which was their homemade ravioli with ricotta, spinach tossed in butter and sage on a bed of tomato sauce. Our first two dishes were their calamari and pizzas, and they both tasted delicious, as the pizza was smidge on the salty side, due to the generous portions of prosciutto on every slice of pizza. Then came our entrées and my Veal Piccata was so lovingly composed that with three fillets heavily soaked in lemon caper sauce that there was more than enough food for two people, of which I was able to share in both the Tagliolini Gamberetti and the Costoletta di Maíale, and they were not only both delicious, but the pasta was filled with an abundance of fresh seafood and delectable creamy sauce, and the pork chop was moist with every bite thanks to the generous amount of truffle mushroom sauce. We loved our entire evening at Sapore Italiano, as it was thriving with diners and our party was one of the most boisterous there. The generous amount of complimentary sliced bread served with olive oil and marinara was a nice accompaniment to our meal, and with the wine we brought that kept flowing we were all in good company. They are nice enough to not charge if you bring in your own dessert to share, and their staff was so lovely that they even offered to slice the cake we brought for us, which only enhanced our dining experience. Our total bill for our large party was $586.29, which included an automatic twenty percent gratuity and tax, but it was all worth it considering the food and attentive service we received. I cannot wait to return to Sapore Italiano, as they have no doubt have become a welcome part of the community for all of these years. Italian cuisine doesn't get any heartier than at Sapore Italiano!
